The 2009 Acura TL gets redesigned for the new model year with slightly larger dimensions all round. The TL premium midsize sedan comes in two trims: Base and SH-AWD (for Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) models. The Type-S makes an exit and is replaced by the SH-AWD model as the high performer in the TL lineup. The Base Acura TL versions are equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that rated for 280 hp. The SH-AWD version gets a 3.7-liter V6 that makes 305 hp, and is currently the most powerful engine in an Acura. Standard transmission on both models is a 5-speed automatic with "Sequential SportShift" steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The Base TL wears 17-inch wheels, while the SH-AWD upgrades to sport suspension and 18-inch wheels. Safety features include front side airbags, curtain side airbags, ABS, traction control and antiskid system. Standard equipment includes an 8-speaker audio, leather upholstery with heated front seats, sunroof and wireless cell phone link.
